Water tank cleaning requirements in Dubai: what we can actually tell you
Water tank cleaning in Dubai is permitted work, carried out under a Dubai Municipality Operator’s Permit. The one thing we cannot yet give you is a frequency: we have asked Dubai Municipality for it in writing, and it goes on this page the day it arrives.
We publish what we can put in writing. A cleaning frequency is the thing customers ask us for most often on this subject, and it is the one we do not yet have a Dubai Municipality source for — so it is not on this page yet.
What is established
The permit, and what it covers.
Tank cleaning in the Emirate of Dubai is done under an Operator’s Permit issued by Dubai Municipality’s Food Safety Department. We hold one. A building manager or owners’ association is entitled to ask any contractor for theirs, and to be given the details.
A permit answers who may do the work. It is not a schedule, and it is not a substitute for seeing the tank before and after.

Because we asked, and we are waiting.
We have written to Dubai Municipality’s Registration and Permits section to ask two questions: whether a cleaning frequency is mandated for residential tanks, and whether the work is restricted to permit holders. When there is a written answer, it goes on this page with its source.
Until then, a number on this page would be one we could not stand behind. We would rather tell you that than fill the gap.

How often should my tank be cleaned?
It depends on the tank, the building, and what the last inspection found — so the honest answer is that we look and tell you what we see. A legal frequency is something we have asked Dubai Municipality for in writing; the moment we have it, it is on this page.
Do you provide a certificate?
Yes, where the building requires one. It carries the date, the address and the work done.
Can you clean a tank in a building with restricted access?
Usually. Out-of-hours work is normal for towers and compounds, and it is arranged with the building office rather than around it.
What does it cost?
Water tank cleaning, standard residential tank: From AED 525. The exact figure comes from the tank size and access, and is agreed before we start. Every published price is on our prices page.
